LGV Training

LGV training is also known as HGV training, where it used to be referred to as HGV Class 2 (or LGV Category C) and HGV class 1 (or LGV Category C+E).

Large goods vehicle (LGV) drivers, also known as HGV drivers, transport and deliver goods to suppliers and customers. They work from depots, distribution centres and warehouses, and carry goods all over the UK and overseas.

Why choose HGV Express?

As one of the UK’s leading providers of lorry driver training courses, we have had extraordinary success with a high pass rate on all our LGV / HGV courses in the UK. This enables hundreds of people to successfully complete the course each year, entering into the solid, stable and financially rewarding career of an LGV driver.

What training is available?

We offer Class 1 training (Category C+E for driving large, articulated lorries with trailer) and Class 2 training (Category C for smaller, rigid-bodied vehicles without a cab) across the country. In order to get an LGV/HGV licence, you need to be at least 18 years of age and have a full manual driving licence with Category B. Once you have obtained your Category B licence, you must then complete an LGV medical examination, and then apply to the DVLA to add provisional entitlements to your licence for you to learn to drive LGV’s (Large Goods Vehicles).

Once you have passed your LGV/HGV medical exam and obtained your provisional licence, you will then need to sit and pass your LGV/HGV theory test. Once you have passed your LG theory test, you can then book with us your LGV training courses, and look forward to receiving the best possible LGV/HGV training to help ensure you pass your LGV/HGV practical test first time.

As an LGV/HGV driver, you would drive commercial vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, including rigid trucks, articulated lorries, tankers, transporters and trailer waggons.Training with us will make sure that you receive the tailor-made learning experience you deserve along with the course materials updated regularly in respect to the Industry standards in order to train for your dream LGV/HGV Job. Current lorry drivers in the haulage industry can even return to truck school in order to upgrade their licence and maximise their employment opportunities. We can help drivers upgrade to Class 1 (Category C+E) LGVs by gaining a C1 licence.

We have supported thousands of new drivers through their driving qualifications and beyond; with our dedicated Job Search Service and Recruitment Help Team, you’ll never be left alone.

We provide you with the knowledge and expertise to give yourself a successful career and lifelong skills.
