The shortfall in the number of qualified lorry drivers is a constant concern within the haulage industry and it is a story that regularly crops up in the news. HGV driving is the lifeblood of the UK’s economy, and as the number of driver vacancies soars, haulage companies are desperate to employ new recruits to keep this vital sector operational. At HGV Express, we are committed to confronting this challenge.
Training the drivers of tomorrow
Our team of instructors have a wealth of experience across all aspects of HGV driving, and they have a proven track record in helping people like you become the skilled professional drivers the industry is crying out for. We will guide you through every step of the course, in both theory and practice. And we won’t just teach you the essentials. We can offer all kinds of helpful advice to set you up for a long and successful career on the road.
Cutting the cost of training
We are always happy to help aspiring drivers get started. So, if you are keen to get on with your training but are concerned about costs – fear not, ourEasy Finance Scheme is here to help. The Easy Finance Scheme allows you to start your HGV training after paying only a small deposit. The remaining payment can be made later in a number of instalments after you have found work.
Getting your career on the road
New drivers who gain their HGV licence with us can also take advantage of our industry expertise to find the best opportunities that are on offer in the HGV jobs market. We can advise on self-employment and finding work through employment agencies; we can explain all your options and point you towards the most suitable employers; and we can help you hone your CV and prepare for job interviews to ensure you secure the job of your dreams.
Helping your career progression
As well as offering basic HGV training, we also help drivers upgrade their licences, which opens up many more opportunities for employment. For example, we can provide training to upgrade your C1 licence (required to operate a vehicle with a gross weight of up to 7.5 tonne and a trailer up to 750kg) to a C1+E (to operate a vehicle with a gross weight of up to 7.5 tonne and a trailer over 750kg). Or, if you fancy getting behind the wheel of an articulated lorry, we can give you the training that takes you from a Category C licence (for large commercial vehicles in excess of 7.5 tonnes) to a Category C+E licence (for the largest commercial vehicles, in excess of 7.5 tonnes with trailers in tow).
These are just some of the ways we are tackling the UK’s shortage of HGV drivers. Whatever your background and whether you want to drive an articulated lorry or a fork lift truck, call HGV Express and together we will drive your career forward.
